Introducing “Broken Heart” Music Video

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. “(1 Samuel 15:22a)

Saul failed to listen and obey God's voice, and because of that, he was rejected as king — he was not a man after God's own heart.

"After removing Saul, God made David their king. God testified concerning him: 'I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.'" (Acts 13:22)

David, in contrast, was someone who truly knew God's heart and brought Him joy. The difference between Saul and David came down to how well they listened to God's voice and understood His heart. Both faced crises and had to make difficult choices under pressure. Saul made decisions based on his own desires, while David chose to follow God's will.

It wasn't that they heard an audible voice from God telling them exactly what to do. Rather, David knew God's heart so well that he could sense what would please Him.

In our own lives, we can often guess what our parents or close friends would say in certain situations, can't we? In the same way, David could sense, "This is what my Lord would want in this moment." But Saul, driven by his own pride, self-interest, and fears, couldn't think that way.

Peter the fisherman experienced something similar. After working all night without catching anything, he was washing his nets when Jesus said to him, "Put out into deep water and let down the nets for a catch."

Based on everything Peter knew from his life as a fisherman, it made no sense. But he said, "Because You say so, I will let down the nets." When he obeyed, he witnessed a miracle.

I believe that kind of heart — a "because You say so" heart — is a “Broken Heart”, surrendered and humble.

When we constantly listen for God's voice, there will be times when our experience, our worries, or our pride push us in the opposite direction. But when we say, "Lord, if You say so, I'll do it," and choose His will over our own, He delights in us. We become people after God's own heart, just like David, and through us, His glory is revealed.

Through this song, may we learn to hear His voice more clearly and become people with hearts that are soft and surrendered to Him.
